The Economic Sociology European Website has posted the July issue of its newsletter, including an interview with Jens Beckert (director of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne) on the state of contemporary economic sociology, and its development in different national contexts. Most of the other texts are related to the theme of the newsletter: globalization.

Oxford University Press has just published a major work by one of the most exciting sociological theorists currently in the field. After his programatic book "The Meanings of Social Life: A Cultural Sociology" (Oxford University Press, 2003), Jeffrey C. European Sociological Association will hold its 8th conference in Glasgow (Scotland), 3-6 September 2007. The conference is entitled ‘Conflict, Citizenship and Civil Society’. As it is noted on the ESA web site:
